Penile curvature: is surgery the only option?
400 men in every 100,000 have problems connected with severely bent or curved erect penis, this is neither that slight curve nor sideways "hang" to the penis which is very common for almost all men. The problem with the bent penis in a "J" or "U" shape or so called corkscrew-like appearance is big for both partners, sometimes sex becomes impossible even. This problem is called Peyronie's Disease or fibrous caverositis (cavernosa).
This disease is caused when scar tissue or inelastic plaque replaces the normally elastic tissue of the penis. Normally, an erection expands the elastic tissue symmetrically, in a straight erection .Scar tissue is not stretchy or elastic it is actually rather hard, it stays put and the penis becomes bent or curved. If this scar tissue is along all the shaft of the penis then the shape of the penis is either "bottleneck" or it is pinching-in at that location. All this can cause a drastic penis shortening.
The reason for these problems could be inflammation, injury, or a trauma of the erect penis. Some men who have used Caverject to treat erectile dysfunction develop Peyronie's. Also according to physicians high blood pressure, diabetes or hardening of the arteries or other rare genetic causes can influence the onset of Peyronies. The most likely culprit is a trauma followed by abnormal or slow healing.
Every case is different. For some men, surgery is the only one logical option but usually doctors tell them to wait at least a year or two before the surgery. This period is no try other different methods and treatments because the surgery is the last drastic choice/ look up for information with the keywords "penile curvature surgery," be prepared to see some really disturbing photos
There are cases when , men improve without treatment within a year or two. Scar tissue just disappears . But for those 40% it can even become worse. So called the Nesbit procedure is when the penis is shorten by 1 to 2 inches, the other is when scar tissue is replaced with grafted tissue which causes complete or partial loss of erectile function. In these cases it is extremely necessary to use alternative treatments.
The best and most successful self-treatments is a combination of traction devices and Vitamin E therapy. One of the most successful corrective devices is the ProExtender ( developed by Swedish doctor, Jorn Ege Siana) is consistent, measured traction to counteract the hardening of scar tissue , which is applied gently while building the penis's straight-arrow dimensions. You can wear this device under clothing and you should apply it consistently for a course of months. It is used in hospitals and clinics throughout Europe and the US by post-penis-surgery patients to get proper healing, and doctors offer it as an alternative to surgery.
The advantages of the penis enlargement device are: low cost compared to surgery, no side effects, at-home treatment without the trauma and invasive risks of surgery. You can add Vitamin E against penile curvature. You can use also Potaba, or potassium amonobenzoate but it can be more expensive as you need 24 pills a day for up to 6 months. Of course there are other oral supplements and medications by prescription for Peyronie's disease.
